“Civil Society in the Black Sea Region and the Eastern Partnership Countries-Promoting Civil and Social Dialogue”

        The EESC-ILO Joint Conference “Civil Society in the Black Sea Region and the Eastern Partnership Countries-Promoting Civil and Social Dialogue” was held on March 2-3, 2009 in Belgium, Brussels with participation of more than 100 representatives of employers’, nongovernmental organizations, scientific-research institutions, regional public vocational organizations, EU government structures, ILO and other international organizations from EU and Eastern Partnership countries.  
       The Conference was aimed at strengthening relations between organized structures of civil society in the EU and Eastern Partnership Countries, exchange opinions on how can civil society contribute to Eastern Partnership and Black Sea Synergy, promotion of effective social dialogue in the region, civil society networks at national and regional level as well as supporting establishment of Civil Society Forum within the Eastern Partnership programme.
        At the Conference president of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers’) Organizations of Azerbaijan Republic (ASK) Mr. Alakbar Mammadov made its speech on “The role of employers’ organizations in promoting social dialogue in the Azerbaijan Republic” and touched upon such issues as legal base of social dialogue in Azerbaijan, challenges of employers’ organizations in promoting social dialogue, the main achievements of strengthening social dialogue in the country as well as ASK relevant activity and its effective cooperation with government structures, supportive role of the ILO in building SD in Azerbaijan, influence of Global Finance Crisis to SD, etc.
